Snowfall season 2 episode 9 preview: ‘Aftermath’ + the latest ratings

Snowfall season 2

What lies ahead on Snowfall season 2 episode 9? We should start off here by noting that there is a lot of mystery there.

Typically, within these previews we’re able to supply something in terms of a synopsis or at least some details as to what’s coming up for the main characters. However, in this case we can’t say all too much. FX didn’t make a synopsis for episode 9 available in advance, and with that in mind, the only thing that we can offer up here is the title: “Aftermath.” then again, when you look at that, how much more do you really need to know? That’s a pretty clear indicator that we’re looking at an intense, very-dramatic story that is going to pickup up almost immediately where tonight leaves off … and the fact that there are no advance spoilers here indicates further that that FX is being very protective of the story at this point.

So, with all of this mystery in mind, let’s go ahead and look at a different question here instead: Whether or not we are going to see a season 3. We’ve been waiting for some more answers on that for a while and we’re honestly shocked that the renewal hasn’t happened further. The latest ratings are a good indicator as to why. While this past episode brought the lowest number of live total viewers of the season, this is a series down less than 6% in both total viewers and the 18-49 demographic from last season. Overall, the retention for season 2 is so strong that the network has to feel pretty excited that there will be a lot of viewers out there for a season 3 — if they opt to give it the green light that it deserves.

Update: Following tonight’s episode, it’s now clear why FX was being so cagey: Franklin shot Kevin. This episode will focus very much on the aftermath of that.
