Hawaii Five-0 season 9 spoilers: Prepare for a Jerry flashback episode!
According to TVLine, one upcoming episode is going to flash back to a younger version of the character, where he was a kid conspiracy theorist — which sounds like a good idea for a spin-off in its own right. When you’re young, you’re inclined to believe almost anything … which hints that Jerry could find himself getting in all sorts of trouble. This episode should give us more of a chance to see what his early years were like — it’s almost an original story, and we know that season 9 is going to be bringing you those in various forms. The site also notes that you’re going to meet Junior’s father, which is certainly valuable given the rocky relationship that we saw with the two men last year. This should help to better understand what drives Junior. (Remember, we’re also getting an origin story of sorts for Eddie the Dog — which we personally love as a dog lover.)

While we’re certainly game for a Jerry flashback episode, let’s also hope for a few more opportunities to see him out in the field as an adult — we saw some good stuff with him near the end of this past season. Also, more of Jerry’s personal life!
In general, there’s a good reason to have faith in what lies ahead on this series, mostly because the past few years in particular have done a great job of expanding outward on some of the lives of these characters. While there are still the crime procedural elements of this show, Hawaii Five-0 is about more than that. The more we get that, the better off the series will be.
