NCIS season 16 spoilers: The impact of Kasie Hines

NCIS season 16

NCIS season 16 is going to have one fairly-significant change at the heart of it. After all, Diona Reasonover is now a series regular! We really like the character of Kasie Hines and what she brings to the show, but at the same time, we also recognize that she brings a new energy and some unknown variables to the proceedings. She’s not the same sort of person we’ve seen other characters have a chance to work with and because of that, there is no way to know for sure precisely how she is going to be received. It’s possible that she ends up being extremely popular, but it’s not going to be just a repeat of some of what we’ve seen before with Abby.

Speaking via Variety, Frank Cardea and Steven D. Binder, two of the major creative forces behind the scenes, had the following to say about the Kasie character and the appeal of being able to write for her:

“In contrast to our other characters, who are all highly experienced and somewhat hardened federal agents, Kasie [has] the eyes of a newcomer … and with that, an unjaded enthusiasm that will prove to be infectious to her co-workers.”

The appeal here to us seems to be fairly obvious in that Kasie is not someone who comes from this same sort of space or understands the super-strict rules that go along with being an agent. While she absolutely is highly intelligent, she’s also going to be thrown into a pretty dramatic learning curve this season. How she manages to react to that is one of the most interesting things about what is going to be coming up story-wise.

Luckily, we’ll get a chance to see more of Kasie before long, as NCIS season 16 is set to premiere on CBS come Tuesday, September 25. We’ll have some more news before long.
