Wentworth season 7 premiere date hopes: When should it air?

Wentworth

Now that Australian viewers are at least on the other side of the season 6 finale, it feels like the right time to pose the following: When could Wentworth season 7 premiere on showcase?

The good news at the moment is strictly this: There is no overt reason to be worried over the future of the series. It has already been renewed by the network and with that, the next order of business is strictly finding out when they will decide to air it. For the network, that really comes down to when production is done and, beyond that, when it could air on the other side of this.

As of right now, it does feel like starting the show in May or June is the right way to go about doing it, largely because this is what we’ve seen when it comes to an airing structure for the series so far. It’s just well-suited for this particular timeslot just because that’s when there are a good many viewers around; beyond just that, it’s a tradition at this point. The best thing that any series can really hope for is carving out your own little corner of the marketplace and we do certainly think that this is precisely what Wentworth has done.

The challenge from here is, of course, finding a story that is every bit as shocking and suspenseful as what we got during the sixth season. In between the Ferguson storyline, a significant departure, and another of other twists and turns along the way, this was one of the most intense seasons that has been delivered to date. We’ll just have to wait and see now precisely if the remainder of the series can live up to the hype, or at least come up with some new challenges for most of the cast.
