Could Geoffrey Owens join The Haves and Have Nots season 7?

One of the bigger stories to come out of the news over the past few weeks is the one related to Geoffrey Owens. The former Cosby Show actor was discovered working at a Trader Joe’s while pursuing other work, and the story went viral as he received a wide array of support from people who know how hard it can be to pursue a dream.

In an interview on Good Morning America this week, Owens revealed that the amount of attention he is receiving because of the story has caused him to leave that job. He’s also somewhat hesitant to be hired for other gigs on the back of this, mostly because he doesn’t feel like it will be earned.

Will Tyler Perry help to change his mind? Well, if nothing else, we know that he is interested in hiring him. In a post on Twitter, the mega-producer noted that he wants to bring him on board for the latest season of his top-rated The Haves and Have Nots. (That’s at least what we believe he is referring to by his comments that it is OWN’s number one drama.) This is the sort of soap that would actually play very well for some of his dramatic sensibilities and we certainly hope that this is a chance for him to make a larger name for himself — provided that he does end up wanting it. This is, of course, one of those roles that is rather hard to turn down.

Owens was still very much a working actor even before the Trader Joe’s sighting, as he has appeared in such other projects as Lucifer, Elementary, and The Blacklist over the course of the past year. Yet, unless you are a series regular or a major recurring player, the TV acting biz is not one that pays top-dollar. Hence, many actors finding a way to make ends meet.
