What Hawaii Five-0 season 9 will get out of ‘Cocoon’ remake

Cocoon

As you may have heard by now, Hawaii Five-0 season 9 is making a pretty big move with their September 28 premiere. In honor of the 50th anniversary of the series being on the air, they are giving you a chance to see a remake-of-sorts of “Cocoon,” the show’s original pilot and one of the more memorable episodes that are out there.

Of course, we imagine that the show’s producers are hoping to get a great episode out of this special premiere, but are there some other benefits that are going to come its way, as well? Let’s just say that this is some of what this particular article is about!

For starters, we think that the biggest takeaway we have from this move now is that it’s a brilliant opportunity to get some fans of the original Hawaii Five-0 on board who may only be occasional viewers here. While that show may be five decades old at this point, it does still have a dedicated legion of fans. With “Cocoon” being the pilot, obviously there are going to be many people out there who remember it.

Beyond just that, it’s a chance to promote an episode who looks and feels very much different from any other that is out there. Just the image above alone is complete and total nightmare fuel, and we really do think that this is scratching the surface of some of the other crazy stuff that we are going to see over the course of the hour. Add to this the return of Wo Fat, and you’re also giving longtime fans of the new version of Hawaii Five-0 a treat.

Aside from “Cocoon,” obviously this episode also serves another purpose: Touching on the big Adam cliffhanger at the end of this past season. Tani Rey has a huge decision to make in terms of whether or not she is going to act on the evidence she found.
