The Walking Dead season 9 photo: Rick, Michonne, and Judith find peace
Moving into the premiere episode airing on the network next month, we are going to see Andrew Lincoln’s character trying to establish the sense of harmony that Carl envisioned back before his death. He wanted to imagine that there was something more that could become of Alexandria and the communities beyond just survival, and for some time, Rick is going to do what he can in order to try and make that work. In this photo, Rick does seem to be happy alongside Michonne and Judith — they are standing in a field together and it doesn’t appear as though anyone is fearing for their lives.
Of course, the unfortunate reality of this photo is mostly that right when you start to think that you are okay and there are no other problems knocking at your doorstep, one finds a way to barge right in and create all sorts of unspeakable problems. That seems to be where things are going this season. We know that Andrew Lincoln is leaving, and on the surface, there’s nothing within this photo that suggests that he will be departing because he wants to leave his family. The more likely reality here is that something terrible happens to this character and with that exit comes a number of people all struggling to find a new way to move forward.
The other question we’re left to wonder is this: If Rick dies, does Carl’s dream go along with him? How different is the world going to be from what it was originally meant to be? Hopefully, we’re going to have more answers to that soon after Lincoln’s exit.
