Shameless season 9 episode 1 spoilers: Will Fiona bail out Ian?
The premiere episode is coming in just over a week’s time, and signs point to this one picking up reasonably close to where the season 8 finale left off. For starters, Ian will be in jail, where he could still consider his recent shtick as gay Jesus. Meanwhile, Frank’s recent exploits are going to come back to haunt him — not that we’re altogether sure that he is going to care.
Below, the Shameless season 9 episode 1 synopsis offers up a little more insight into what you can expect to see:
Frank’s latest sexual escapades get him into trouble with the Hopkins Academy PTA. Fiona struggles with her decision to bail Ian out of jail, while he continues his Gay Jesus antics inside. Lip juggles taking care of Xan with a potential romance. Debbie fights for equal pay at work, and Carl has to prove himself at military school. Kev and V have trouble with the twins without Svetlana. Season premiere.
The video below offers up a few more teasers as to what’s coming, and admittedly for us, the biggest surprise here comes with Ian not being altogether interested in being behind bars. Even when Fiona gives him some good news when it comes to her pursuit of the bail, he makes it clear that, for some reason, he’s actually happy just hanging out in prison continuing to do some of his work.
Basically, as we start to look ahead towards the premiere, we are going to start watching it with a little bit of a different perspective. We have to think more now in terms of how Emmy Rossum will leave the show, now that news is out there.
