Chicago Fire season 7: Is a new love interest for Brett coming?
Based on some of the new evidence that is out there, it does seem as though this is a possibility. In a new post on Twitter, show executive producer Derek Haas notes that there is a “possible new love” coming for Kara Killmer’s character. I imagine that the reaction to this will be somewhat mixed, largely in the same way that it is anytime a character gets a new love interest.

If you are to ask many Brett fans out there, you’ll find that there are a good many of them rooting still for a relationship between her and Antonio to work out … and it’s pretty darn hard to blame them for this, all things considered. This is a dynamic relationship between two characters who, on paper, didn’t have all that much in common. Yet, when things are working out between them the chemistry is off the charts. The unfortunate thing here is that this relationship is hot-and-cold for so many reasons, including just the logistical challenges that come with them being two prominent characters on different shows. It’s a little easier to make things work between Platt and Mouch just because their love lives are rarely integral to the story.
Are we going to root for a new Brett love interest? Possibly, but it all depends on the person. The same thing really goes for any romantic story. It’s wrong to make any assumptions now, mostly because you never know how you are going to feel about any relationship in advance. I wasn’t sure about Brettonio but it worked out great; I even liked the recent Cruz – Brett storyline, which really put us at a crossroads in terms of what ‘ship we should be rooting for.
