Last Man Standing season 7: How Kaitlyn Dever will film scenes

Last Man Standing

Even though Kaitlyn Dever remains incredibly busy, it does seem like she and Last Man Standing have figured out a way to keep her as a major part of the show.

As it stands, she’s not a series regular, which does make sense given that Eve is off at the Air Force. Dever also has a regular gig elsewhere on Netflix’s Unbelievable, which means that it’s hard for her to appear to much more than whenever she has some spare time.

Executive producer Kevin Abbott notes via TVLine that you will see Dever in at least two episodes coming up this fall — the premiere and the third season seemed to be locked in. The plan in general seems to be that whenever she has days off, she can come in and just bank some scenes to be used at a later date:

“Kaitlyn’s working really hard so that whenever she has a break, we will film her … We’re going to write… B-stories [in advance] for the purpose of being able to shoot her in a scene and then drop it into a later episode.”

While this situation may not be perfect for those who are out there who are big Eve fans, at least it’s a nice compromise that allows the same actress to continue with the role — and, as noted, it makes a certain degree of sense. As to whether or not this arrangement changes beyond this season, that depends heavily on Dever’s schedule, plus also presumably how Last Man Standing fares in the ratings for this year. Given that this is a show moving to a new network and her other show is completely new, it’s really hard in either instance to project far in the future.

All we know at the moment is that Last Man Standing season 7 is currently set to premiere come September 28 and we will have more news coming up in the future.
