Better Call Saul season 4 episode 5 sneak peek: Mike’s driving directions
In this sneak peek, what we basically see is Mike giving directions to a new, foreign recruit to Gus’ empire. Is this person Lalo? We understand the temptation to say so, but based on the information we’ve seen, we don’t think that this is the case. (Does anyone else think that this guy looks a little bit like Paul F. Tompkins?)
Here’s the thing with a scene with this: It’s very well-filmed and certainly well-done story-wise, but it also doesn’t leave us with all that much to discuss. There’s not a great deal of actually pushing the story forward, which is why you are left with those questions as to if the show is moving along too slowly. At this rate, it’s going to take three seasons before Jimmy is even a lawyer again, let along becoming Saul Goodman. We do think that things will pick up eventually, and we like to think that this is just Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould doing everything that they can in order to set the table a little bit for what’s to come.
Given that we’re almost at the halfway point of this season, we really have to hope that this is the case.
As for what else is happening on Monday’s episode beyond just what we’re seeing with Mike, we imagine that the aftermath of Jimmy’s cell-phone operation is going to become clear. He thinks that he’s got this genius idea, but we will see if that is actually the case.
