The Conners teaser highlights an empty couch (and little else)
Instead, what you see in the video below is a very familiar couch; yet, there’s nobody sitting on it. This is a reference to the lack of Roseanne, who is presumably going to be dead (per John Goodman) at the start of this series. There is no real way to write this character out otherwise, given that it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that she would be off somewhere else without her family.
The obvious question that this promo raises is simply this: What’s next? How do these characters move forward? We feel like the premiere really has to touch on that, but after that it’s hard to really envision The Conners changing itself all that much. This is the sort of series where it really knows what it is and we don’t see it making any real effort to drift from that all that much in a comedic sense.
The Conners is going to premiere on Tuesday, October 16 on ABC, and we know that work has already been done behind the scenes to try to make it a success. It’s easy to imagine that the show will get off to a great start without Roseanne, mostly because there’s going to be a lot of curiosity about what it’s like in the short-term. However, we do think that there will be a little bit of ambiguity that comes after that. What does the audience for this show look like without its biggest star? The quality of the premiere is really going to be one of the most critical things in figuring out the show’s long-term future.

Terrible insult of a teaser as the Couch is part of Rosanne’s original stand up routine with her as the domestic goddess sitting on her throne of a couch eating bon bons as her husband and three children are around her. They chrapen it with a tune connected to a ketchup commercial. They should hope no one sees the 1989 commercial set in a diner where the slogan became … It just does not taste the same without it.
The song is about a person pining for the love she has fearing it might end so she hangs on to the moment… clue: this only reinforces the fact that the show til now is the good ol days and what ever comes may not be.
There is no good way to hang on to the show so perhaps they should blow it up and nave to move in with Jackie while Dan recovers. The story is talking about the past will only upset his recovery so no one mentions what happened.
It will stink but anything will stink when the snarky wit America wanted is gone during a time when that is all that people want. It is what makes them feel at home.
Speaking of which it is odd for all the photos to be taken down the lamp is changed to a touch lamp and a cordless phone has been added with an answering machine. how modern of them
You are told Rosanne died but dead people do not take down the kids photos. Those stay up unless there is a reason.
Not sure what that reason will be but the pics are gone.
