Alone Together season 3 renewal odds for Freeform series

Alone Together

Following tonight’s finale, is it possible that an Alone Together season 3 renewal is going to happen on Freeform?

Technically, at the time of this writing the comedy series has not been formally renewed or canceled … but we also can’t say that things are looking that great in terms of a renewal. The series has struggled mightily in the ratings the past few weeks, with it barely averaging a 0.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic to go along with around 140,000 total viewers. This isn’t a good performance by network standards and it is down dramatically in both measures versus the first season of the show.

At this point, it would be a surprise if the series was renewed. We’re not saying this as a function of our own wishes, but rather just its performance to date plus some of what we’ve seen from Freeform over the years. This is a network that has a real habit of not giving series additional seasons even when fans want them. Shadowhunters is a great example of that, but so is Stitchers or most recently Young & Hungry. There were talks about the latter show getting a wrap-up special, but at this point it’s clear that this is not going to happen. The Freeform pattern of ending shows early stems back even to ABC Family with many of their shows, like Make It or Break It or The Lying Game, not getting a proper series finale.

Ultimately, expect the worst when it comes to Alone Together, but it’s certainly still fine to have hope for maybe some sort of lucky break in the future. We are glad that we had the show in the first place, mostly because we like the idea of Freeform banking on young talent and to try and establish shows that appeal to millennial audiences. This show made sense for them but, for one reason or another, it just couldn’t deliver the numbers everyone involved probably wanted.
