The Walking Dead season 8 promo: A clash of leadership
What does it take to be a leader, and how should one leader cooperate with others? This is something that seems to be a very integral theme to what we are seeing here as season 8 is probably going to introduce some very interesting dynamics in the leadership department.
After all, just think about things this way. One of the most ruthless leaders on the show in Negan is no longer in power. Meanwhile, Rick Grimes’ days as both a leader (and potentially a person) are on borrowed time as we imagine that there are going to be some who will be hunting him down. For Maggie, her days are in this universe are in question, given that Lauren Cohan’s role on this season is going to be a little bit more limited thanks in part to her role on Whiskey Cavalier — it’s still possible that we end up seeing her stick around even off-screen, with the character set to return at some point a little bit later on down the road.

New episodes of The Walking Dead are going to be met with many challenges, with some of what we’ve mentioned here being just one part of the puzzle. The other part of it just comes via the idea of trying to sustain a show that could be dangerously close to an expiration thing. It’s just hard to preserve a hit for a long period of time and losing so many major cast members can put a hurting on a show. AMC already has everything in the world to be proud of courtesy of what they’ve managed to pull off already. In the end they may eventually realize that this show isn’t going to be what it was, but they can still find a way to cultivate the next chapter as a little more of a cult favorite rather than a mainstream hit. Pushing towards that could take leadership in its own way.
