Power season 6: 50 Cent will direct, remain very much involved
After last night’s super-dramatic (and super-intense) episode of Power, it’s understandable if there are questions regarding 50 Cent’s role on the show moving into the future.
With that, let’s try to clarify a few things. Unless there is some mind-bending twist coming over the course of the next few weeks, it’s hard to imagine the rapper/actor (otherwise known as Curtis Jackson) coming back (Warning: spoilers ahead).
Kanan is dead and given the way that he died, it’s hard to imagine some sort of crazy turn of events where he’s some how back on the show. Yet, 50 Cent remains very much involved on the show. He’s been an executive producer on the show from the beginning and will continue to work behind the scenes, potentially now more than ever. He is also going to direct at least one episode during the upcoming sixth season.

Speaking on a conference call today with reporters (via TVLine), 50 Cent made it clear that he was looking at his current situation with a certain amount of perspective:
“There’s this weird feeling that comes over [when a character dies]. There’s an uncertainty … You’re getting ready to be put back in the pool of talented people that don’t know where they’re going to work next. You’re looking for the next opportunity, the next show, the next film project. For me, it wasn’t like that. I’m going to have a bigger role on [Power], and I can bring more moments to the show that… create additional excitement.”
Kanan dying, while sad to many fans of 50 Cent and of the character, does help to set in motion enormous events on the show moving forward. It’s a death that Tariq is directly responsible for that could have huge ramifications on not just his life, but also relationships within his family.
