50 Cent talks big Power season 5 episode 8 twist on social media

50 Cent

Tonight, Power season 5 episode 8 delivered one of the biggest twists in the show’s history … and we certainly think it’s going to stick with you.

So what does 50 Cent himself have to say about the big twist tonight, which left his character of Kanan Stark dead after being gunned down by police? Well, he put it in pretty clear terms in a post on Instagram, talking about the betrayal the character suffered at the hands of Ghost’s son Tariq:

Hey you know how it is in the fast life. So many different dreams goals disappointments and betrayals. KANAN thought Tariq was like him, and he was but he still his father’s son so he did some sucker s–t.

50’s suggestion here is that Kanan’s fatal flaw was his own inability to see something that was right in front of him with Tariq — he wasn’t a carbon copy of himself. He had tried really hard to train him to be more like himself and less like Ghost, but he never forgot on some level where he came from. That’s why, when told by his mother that he needed to pick a side, he chose her side and that meant framing Kanan for Raymond Jones’ murder.

Is 50 really gone from the show forever? The easy assumption is to think that he’s gone since it was his body that was in the morgue; yet, at the same time this is a show with crazy twists. If nothing else, he remains an executive producer and we imagine that this is going to lead to his continued involvement in the years to come.
