Last Man Standing season 7: New Fox promo takes a jab at ABC

Last Man Standing

Fox has released the latest Last Man Standing season 7 promo leading up to its premiere on September 28, and this one doesn’t hold back.

To be specific, we mean this in the context of how the show’s “characters” feel about the decision by ABC to cancel it after six seasons. In what is a super-meta moment, Mike Baxter (Tim Allen) refers to people who would cancel a popular show as a “bunch of idiots,” and the jabs don’t stop there, either. Watch below to get a better sense as to what we are talking about here.

At this point, it feels reasonably clear what Fox is going for with its promotional campaign: Galvanizing some of the people who were upset about the show’s initial cancellation as an additional reason to want to watch it now. This sort of mentality is often very successful since it allows for a sense of ownership and for people to feel a special connection to a series, even if they don’t watch it on a regular basis. Even if they only do on a few occasions here and there, they may still feel involved on some level.

Getting a new Mandy is just one of the changes that you are going to see over the course of season 7, as Last Man Standing season 7 is also poised to be bringing in an older version of Boyd in addition to a foreign-exchange student. They will also touch this season on everything from death to what happened in the family’s lives in the year and a half since we last saw the show on the air. The writers are not going to jump send us back in time to right after the season 6 finale aired; instead, they are moving forward.
