True Detective season 3 filming is done; the wait begins
One of the things that does make True Detective season 3 a little bit more like season 1 comes via the location. Production took place in Arkansas and now, it’s coming to a close. Setting the series in the Ozarks was apparently integral to the series’ production team, as they wanted the show to have an authentic feel and also ensure that the place itself was a character just as much as the people who appeared — led by Oscar winner Mahershala Ali.
Speaking via the local publication the Fayetteville Flyer, here is some of what show executive producer Nic Pizzolatto had to say about being there:
“The fog over the mountains, the rivers, the water, the sense of scale when you get out into some of this nature, what the buildings say about the lives behind those buildings, … Every place we look tells a story about the people that have been there, are there now, and are no longer there. And I feel like that kind of texture and the dimensionality enhances the character and the mystery that drive what we do.”
Now that production is complete, the next order of business here is going to be editing the episodes, getting the story together, and then awaiting when HBO wants to premiere the series. Our sentiment has always been that True Detective will air after both Big Little Lies and Game of Thrones, but with all three shows now done with filming, it’s really up to the network. We don’t think that Game of Thrones will premiere first, but that’s mostly because it has many more special effects than the other two.
