Outlander star Sam Heughan spends hours doing Wizard World Skype calls

What’s a better experience — getting a photo of your favorite actor, or having a conversation with them that lasts for longer than just a few seconds?

Maybe in some ways, that question is rhetorical, but after having both experiences with various people we admire over the years, we’ve figured out that we’ll take a conversation almost any day of the week. While there may not be a visual reminder of it, you instead get a memory that sticks with you. You get to know them more as a personal beyond just a little conversation geared around a picture. While celebrities at conventions are always friendly both before and after photos, it’s a time crunch.

Today, what happened at Wizard World in Chicago was a little bit different, as many people in attendance had a chance to have a conversation with Outlander star Sam Heughan for a decent stretch of time. Sam was unable to attend due to some sudden changes in his work schedule, but he still managed to book an incredible five hours of his time to just chat with fans and deliver an incredible experience. We’ve seen nothing other than positive reviews from people who had a chance to have the experience and talk about everything from Sam’s acting to Outlander to anything and everything in between. We know from some past interviews that he’s a great conversationalist and this had to be a real treat for a lot of time.

While this may have been an unconventional opportunity for some Outlander fans in Chicago, it definitely seems to have been a worthwhile one — especially when it comes to the amount of time that Sam gave to those in attendance. He doesn’t have any major convention appearance now scheduled until New York Comic-Con, but we’re certainly excited to see all the good stuff that happens there.
