Shameless season 9 spoilers: Courteney Cox, Katey Sagal to appear
According to a new report coming in via Variety, Sagal is going to be appearing in a recurring role coming up as Ingrid Jones, a possible love interest for Frank … in the strangest way possible (which seems about right given the show we’re talking about here). Intrid is a “crazed ” psych patient who Frank develops an interest in after meeting her in the emergency room. These two are probably either going to be a match made in heaven or a complete disaster … but we’re leaning towards the latter given what we’ve seen over time.
To go along with this, Cox is now set to play Jen Wagner on the series. She is a famous actress, and Lip ends up acting as a sober companion for. These two characters could have a rather interesting journey through at least one episode, but with Cox on board we area always hoping for more.
We don’t think it’s all that difficult to explain what the appeal is for getting this women on board as a part of Shameless. The great thing about this series is that it gives you an opportunity to take on material that is so much more extreme and crazy than you’re probably going to get elsewhere. It allows you to step outside of what many people know you for and to flex some different acting muscles. One great example of this in the past is when Sasha Alexander of Rizzoli & Isles had an arc in the past.
Shameless season 9 is going to premiere a little bit later this fall on Showtime, and at the moment the plan seems to be to air the season in two batches of seven episodes each.
