Lucifer season 4: Should Graham McTavish’s character be new Big Bad?

Lucifer

If you’re a Lucifer fan, there’s a chance you’ve already heard the great news about Graham McTavish coming on board as an important new character for season 4.

As you can read over at the link here, the Outlander and Preacher actor is going to be playing a priest this season, someone with a devoted flock and strong opinions. When you consider who he is and then also who Lucifer Morningstar is, it’s pretty obvious that there could be a rivalry coming up between the two moving forward.

So, how long should this rivalry stick around? If we had our way, we’d be willing to make McTavish the Big Bad of the entire season. Why is that? Much of it starts with the fact that he’s a tremendous actor — the excitement since his casting has been palpable, and when you have a performer of his caliber, we think that you’re going to want to use him as much as possible.

Also, McTavish is really excellent at charismatic, passionate characters — regardless of whether they’re good or bad, he can make you believe in them. That’s super-important for someone like a priest, especially if they find out that the Devil is living in their midst.

Ultimately, Lucifer is a lot about perception versus belief. Basically, the easy perception to have of someone like Lucifer is that he’s someone out to destroy the world. Yet, the more that people like Chloe could get to know him, the more that she could actually believe in who he is now — she’s already seen it and hopefully, the reveal of the Devil Face doesn’t change that. However, someone like a priest isn’t going to be so inclined to believe anything than what he would expect from the Devil.

Obviously, all of this is just speculation — but we have a lot of time to learn more before season 4 premieres on Netflix most likely in 2019.
