Simon Cowell returning for America’s Got Talent season 14 under new deal
Today, it was announced that Cowell has signed a new multi-year deal with the network that will also enable him to be front and center for America’s Got Talent: The Champions, the series airing early next year featuring some of the best acts from both this show and other iterations all over the world. Admittedly, this is something we’re personally very excited about given that there have been some great acts over the past decade or so.

In a new statement, here is what NBC’s Paul Telegdy (the head of alternative programming at NBC) had to say on the subject:
“Simon Cowell is an extraordinary showman whose success stories over the years on multiple continents speak for themselves … We are thrilled that he will continue as a judge on ‘America’s Got Talent’ and that his stewardship of the franchise will go forward for many years to come.”
Meanwhile, Cowell himself added the following:
“I want to thank NBC for their continued passion and belief for ‘America’s Got Talent’over the past few years … Without NBC, we wouldn’t be making ‘Got Talent’ and I’m very proud to work with them. Together, with a fantastic production team, we have been able to attract the best talent in the world. I’m very excited for the next few years.”
Personally, we do think that AGT is great with Simon as a judge, mostly because he’s changed up his style to better suit an era where overly-mean judging doesn’t work as well. He does have a few bits that he does too often (“it’s not good news, it’s great news”), but he is one of the most consistent people on the panel and he brings the most judging experience.
