The Flash season 5 spoilers: Kyle Secor to play Caitlin Snow’s father

We’ve known for some time that The Flash season 5 was looking to cast Caitlin Snow’s father; now, Kyle Secor officially has the part.

Per a report from Entertainment Weekly, The Veronica Mars actor will be stopping by this season as Dr. Thomas Snow, a brilliant geneticist who has been away from Central City, and also from Caitlin’s life, for many years. Upon his arrival, he will be doing his part in order to forge a quick bond with his daughter … which probably isn’t going to be easy given all of the history there for him and his family.

Yet, there is still a major shocker that will come up at some point during Caitlin’s interactions with Thomas — he has a big secret, something that will probably come up over time given that this is the sort of thing that often does. If we had to guess, it would be that the character is responsible in some way for Caitlin’s Killer Frost alter ego, which makes some sense given his profession. Maybe he experimented on her when she was young and, as a result of his guilt took off hoping that he wouldn’t be found. A lot of our speculation when it comes to this character really revolves around how dark the producers want to go with this storyline.

Is it possible that Dr. Snow ends up becoming a villain? Sure, but we don’t think that this is top priority for the series’ producers. It already seems like they’ve landed their Big Bad for the season in cult leader Cicada, in addition to casting a few other smaller villains along the way.

The Flash season 5 will premiere on The CW this October in its standard Tuesday timeslot – except for the big crossover event with Arrow and Supergirl as a way to introduce Batwoman to the universe! You can read more about that over here.
