Veronica Mars revival eyed at Hulu as 8-episode limited series
Have you missed Veronica Mars since the last time that the series was on the air? If so, we imagine that this news is going to make you very happy. The Kristen Bell series is seemingly set to come back for more.
All indications at the moment are that Hulu is close to ordering an eight-episode revival for the Kristen Bell series, which originally was a cult phenom before coming back for a feature film a few years back. It still has an enormous audience and both Bell and creator Rob Thomas have been eager to do more. Thanks to Bell only doing thirteen episodes of The Good Place, she has the capability to be able to do both this and also Veronica Mars. It’s one of the nice luxuries that goes along with committing to a shorter run of a show.
Basically, we see the idea of a new Veronica Mars as yet another product of the big movement towards nostalgia at the moment — and it’s especially wonderful here because we personally think that Veronica Mars is really one of the first shows that got this movement going. Without it, it’d be rather hard to really know for sure just how successful some other series pushes would be right now. Fans kept it on the air and now, it’s coming back to the medium that made it successful provided that all the negotiations and everything come together.
Based on when this new Veronica Mars is potentially going to film, the safe assumption is that we’re probably a year or so (at least) from seeing it premiere. With Thomas wrapping up his own run as executive producer over on iZombie, this does feel like the perfect time in which to move over to another beloved property.
