This Is Us season 3 bringing on board another iconic sitcom mom

This Is Us season 3

One of the more interesting This Is Us traditions that happening at present is the use of classic sitcom moms across the first two seasons. In season 1, Katey Sagal of Married … With Children stopped by for an appearance. Meanwhile, in season 2 it was Debra Jo Rupp of That 70’s Show.

Now, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that former Malcolm in the Middle star Jane Kaczmarek is going to be appearing on at least one upcoming episode of the drama, and will be playing a liberal university professor who also happens to double as a scientist. She is a very smart, down-to-earth character who has a kindness for other people.

Yet, it does not appear as though the NBC series is altogether interested in sharing some of the circumstances that come with her being a part of the series. She’s obviously going to be connected to an important character somehow, but what makes things rather interesting is that none of the characters, at least in the present timeline, are at a point when they would be spending time around a college professor. Therefore, the easiest assumption to make here is that her appearance is tied somewhat to one of the other timelines on the series, whether it be one that we’ve seen before or a totally new era that hasn’t been fully explored just yet.

Regardless of the time period, it definitely does feel as though This Is Us has just gotten on board another character who we are going to be very happy to add to the mix. We like that there are so many different positive figures that exist within the Pearsons’ lives … provided that this character, of course, is meant to be positive.
