Crime Dynamic Duos: Wynonna Earp (Wynonna / Nicole) vs. Blindspot (Jane / Weller)

Welcome to CarterMatt’s Crime Dynamic Duos 2018! This is the third year in which we’re doing this tournament, which is a way to honor some of the best crime-solvers in all of TV. This tournament runs throughout the month of August, and over the course of it we describe what makes certain pairs the perfect crime-fighting duo while also allowing you to share some of your thoughts on the competition! Each article is accompanied with a description and a poll; the winning duo will advance to the next round leading up to the winner being announced on September 1!

What are the rules of the tournament? Basically, all eligible shows have to still be in the midst of their run on TV as of August 1, and at least one character involved needs to be involved in solving crimes in some capacity. They can be a cop, a private investigator, a federal agent, a lawyer or a high-ranking officer. What matters is that they put plenty of bad people away.

Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Voting for Round 3 is open until Friday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time; round 4 will officially kick off on August 25, and at that point, we will have arrived to the final four pairs!

In today’s showdown, we are kicking off the third round with what should be a pretty-interesting battle of underdogs: We’ve got Wynonna and Nicole of Wynonna Earp squaring off now against Jane and Weller of Blindspot!

Wynonna and Nicole, Wynonna Earp (#5 seed) – Regardless of what happens from here on out, it’s pretty clear that Wynonna and Nicole have a lot to celebrate here! Despite not being the most traditional dynamic duo in the tournament, they now have tallied two impressive victories — including over a #1 seed in Reddington & Liz from The Blacklist. Their momentum continues moving into this round, where they have another tough showdown. Wynonna Earp season 3 is currently airing on Syfy, and this Friday’s episode looks to be especially fun as we gear up for the show’s version of Christmas. Who doesn’t want to celebrate it in August?

Jane and Weller, Blindspot (#7 seed) – Jane and Weller are the second #7 seed to make it to the third round of the tournament this year, and they were able to get this far after a really-close showdown in round 2 against Reid and JJ of Criminal Minds. If the past vote totals are any indication at the moment, it does feel as though this is going to be the biggest challenge that “Jeller” has faced yet. Granted, shouldn’t they be up for any challenge at this point? We certainly hope so, given that the next season of the series is going to feature them tested like never before. That’s ultimately what happens when Jane becomes Remi!
