Legacies adds Galavant alum; iZombie brings in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Let’s kick things off here with the latest from Legacies, which is the upcoming spin-off series of The Originals that has been executive-produced by Julie Plec. According to a report from Deadline, Galavant and Once Upon a Time alum Karen David is going to recur as Emma Tig. She is a witch and carries with her some supernatural powers, but beyond that the casting notice claims that she provides “moral support and a shoulder to cry on for all the students at the Salvatore School.” It also sounds like the one person she really wants to help more than anyone else is Alaric (Matt Davis), but he is very reluctant to receive any sort of support from her. Is she a therapist? On the surface, it feels almost like she is a guidance counselor … and she could be a love interest potentially for Alaric down the line.
Given how unlucky in love this guy was throughout much of The Vampire Diaries (at least in that terrible things happened to some of the people he was with), there is a lot to like in this idea.
iZombie brings in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – To us, we just love this story from the vantage point of getting to see an NBA legend play a zombie politician. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Abdul-Jabbar (who was also excellent in Airplane!) is going to be taking on the role of Zed, a City Council member who decided to stay put in the midst of a zombie epidemic in Seattle. He now is a zombie himself, but his fellow City Council member is a human — let’s just say that the two are not going to get along very well. If you thought that conflicts between real politicians at the moment are bad, just wait to see what happens here!
While you are going to see Legacies on the air this fall, you will unfortunately have to wait until the new year to see what Kareem brings to iZombie.
