Chicago Fire season 7: What are the chances for Brettonio?
It’s easy to make one thing clear when it comes to One Chicago, or really just about any other show under the planet: ‘Ships are polarizing. That is especially true when it comes to this particular pair. They have a loyal legion of fans, but there are also still some Cruz / Brett supporters out there and then also some who don’t seem to want cross-show romances at all. It’s always been an interesting debate — personally, I like Cruz, Brett, and Antonio and pitting ‘ships against each other is hard; yet, it’s hard to deny the chemistry that Antonio and Brett have.

One of the biggest problems with this particular pair is scheduling out ways in which to make the relationship work. While Mouch and Platt are often used as an example of how One Chicago can make a cross-show romance work, these two characters also don’t get the same amount of screen time Brett and Antonio do — and the same goes for their personal lives. Basically, you want to give them a storyline, whether it be romantically or otherwise, where you know you will be able to tell the story without availability getting in the way.
Per a new post on Twitter below via show executive producer Derek Haas did confirm that he and the rest of the writing team are thinking about whether or not there is a good way to make Brettonio work this season. If they come up with a good way to do it that is different than anything that they have done before, it sounds like they’ll consider it. They don’t want to just rinse-and-repeat everything that they have done on the series before.
