Big Little Lies season 2 filming wraps, per Reese Witherspoon
In a new post on Instagram below, you can see Reese Witherspoon thank everyone for their hard work and celebrate being done with the new batch of episodes. Filming first started earlier this year on an ambitious batch of new episodes, directed this time by Andrea Arnold and featuring an incredible new addition in Meryl Streep as the late Perry’s mother.
To call Big Little Lies season 2 bold doesn’t even feel like it’s doing it proper justice. After all, we’re talking here about a series that was originally going to be a one-season limited run. Now, the series is moving forward and stepping out of the shadow of the source material. Whether or not this helps or hurts the series remains to be seen. If the ratings turn out to be huge, we do have to imagine that there is a chance at a season 3 down the road just because these people all seem to love working together. Also, it garners a tremendous amount of awards recognition and we have a feeling that adding Streep now is only going to add to that further.
Even though Big Little Lies season 2 wrapped filming after another HBO show in Game of Thrones, don’t be surprised if it premieres first. There are no CGI dragons that need to be included here and with that, we imagine that there’s a much shorter post-production window.
