Magnum PI spoilers: Ken Jeong, Carl Weathers set to appear

How about this for some great Magnum PI news this weekend? The CBS reboot is bringing on board both Ken Jeong and Carl Weathers as guest stars.

Let’s kick things off here with Jeong, best known (at least for TV audiences) for his work on Community and then also Dr. Ken. According to Entertainment Weekly, Jeong is going to play Lee Ji-Won, a local private investigator who has been around the block a few times — and he doesn’t always have a reputation for doing things the right way. Yet, he does have a relationship with Magnum (Jay Hernandez) and the two play poker together. We almost wonder whether Jeong could be one of those recurring players who pops in from time to time, similar to some people who we’ve had a chance to see on Hawaii Five-0 over the years.

Meanwhile, recent Chicago Justice alum Carl Weathers is going to be appearing on the show as an “old-school Marine” named Dan who is having a hard time making ends meet working as a fisherman. He is going to call on Magnum’s help in order to locate a 350-pound tuna that was stolen from him, one that apparently carries with it an enormous price tag. Getting it really the key to his financial future — hence, the need to bring on board a PI. (If you missed it, Weathers will reprise his Chicago Justice character of Mark Jefferies on Law & Order: SVU coming up.)

We do think that these castings help to give a better perspective as to what’s going to make Magnum PI effective — the wide array of people you’re going to see. These will give the show a fun tapestry right away, and we’re sure there is going to be a lot of comedy in the midst of the action.

Magnum PI will premiere with new episodes next month, and hopefully, there is some more great guest-starring news before then.
