Outlander notes: Sam Heughan makes surprise New Jersey appearance via Skype
After previously having to cancel his appearance at the convention due to his work on Bloodshot (you can read more about why cancellations happen over here), Sam turned in a surprise appearance via Skype to talk a little bit about his co-stars, My Peak Challenge, what he’s working on right now, and playing Jamie through his aging process. Sam also told a number of jokes and had a good time interacting with the crowd and attendees, even if he was not there in person.

This was a lovely way for Sam to make it up to fans who were disappointed by his absence, and we like that in some many ways it was kept as a surprise. This way, nobody had any expectations and when it happened, it brought joy to a number of people who are in attendance. The fascinating situation that Sam is now in is that he is one of the hottest convention commodities out there; yet, there are only so many that he is able to attend, mostly because he has such a short period of time between seasons in order to work on other projects. We know that he cares about his fans, which is what makes situations where he has to cancel all the more painful.
There’s going to be more convention fun over the next couple of days, and of course we’ll discuss that more soon. This is a busy stretch for Outlander in general, given that next week many of the cast will be present at Wizard World in Chicago. While Sam is unable to be there in person, he is planning to do a number of Skype Q&A sessions.

Attended Saturday with my niece the sound quality was terrible but cast made up For that by being gracious, funny and their interactions with attendees were at times hilarious
Richard Rankin at one point just walked out and sat in audience and interacted with fans.

I was there! The audio quality in general was awful, even to the point where David Berry called it out on Friday and Saturday. Sam’s Skype, and later Cait’s, was a lovely surprise.
We were both pleasantly surprise as was the entire audience. The convention was very very good and all the stores were excellent, and good humor, and telling jokes. Very nice experience.

My sisters and I were at at the convention today and totally thrilled when Sam was able to Skype in for a Q & A, with the only disappointing thing being the lousy audio and small screen.
