How Blue Bloods season 9 cast, crew celebrated Donnie Wahlberg’s birthday

For everyone out there who loves Blue Bloods and its star Donnie Wahlberg, there is something fun to celebrate today: A birthday! Donnie officially turns 49 today but, leading up to the celebration, the cast and crew of the show did something for him a little bit early last night.

In a new post via Instagram HERE, you can see a surprise food-truck gift for Donnie in honor of his big day — something that was also adorned with Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics logos (which is kind of a big thing to do in New York City). The cast and crew had a chance to have a little bit of fun leading up to Donnie’s big day — at least in the midst of doing a lot of work.

Filming for Blue Bloods season 9 has been going strong for weeks now, though there aren’t too many official details out there about the show. The big reality here with Blue Bloods is that they run one of the more secretive sets out there and somehow, even in filming in the Big Apple, they’re able to keep things fairly under wraps. A good example of this is how nobody knew that Amy Carlson’s character of Linda Reagan was being killed off last season. Somehow, that was a secret that everyone was able to hide. Hopefully there are no devastating reveals this time around and there’s just some great material for Donnie and the rest of the cast instead.

Blue Bloods season 9 is going to premiere on CBS come Friday, September 28 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.
