Suits season 9 renewal: Should we expect it for USA series?
Luckily, viewers have really seemed to embrace the new format and stories, which makes sense given that the season so far has been rather great. We’re seeing at least some sort of response to this in the ratings, as well, given that this past episode brought in a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic to go with about 1.15 million viewers. These numbers are more or less in line with the season averages, which are up in turn versus the final episodes with Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle this spring.
Overall, season 8 ratings are down about 10% in total viewers versus the season 7 average, while the demo numbers are down more than 20% — that’s the part of all this that is a little more worrisome, given that the demo is what matters most when it comes to most TV. We do still think that there’s enough ratings momentum for at least one more year, but that could come down to what both the cast and the writers want to do. We do get the indication, at least for now, that the creative team will like to get going.
One way or another, the Suits team has at least a good bit of time to figure this out, mostly because there doesn’t really need to be a decision when it comes to the final season of the series for at least a little while longer. If USA does end it, though, sooner rather than later is best — give everyone a chance to wrap it up.
