Survivor: David vs. Goliath cast reveal: When could it be coming?

At the moment, we know that Survivor: David vs. Goliath is the title for season 37, and that also says a good bit about the theme. We’re going to see this time around basically a season of underdogs vs. favorites, a group of people who haven’t so lucky or successful in life facing off against people who have. It’s an interesting concept, and while you would think on paper the results here would be obvious, many probably said the same thing about David and Goliath at the time, as well.

We’re getting to the point in the summer now where one question, inevitably, is going to start coming up: When is the cast reveal going to take place? While we do not expect it in the immediate future, we also are planning for it to be at some point either at the end of this month / in early September.

Last year, the cast of Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers was announced on August 30 to the public, and we don’t have any reason to believe that the timing this go-around is going to be altogether different. It makes sense to get the cast out there a few weeks early so that everyone can start to analyze them and figure out a little bit more about who they want to root for. Survivor is almost like a sporting event these days in that there are fantasy leagues and people who want to break down every little move that happens … which isn’t always easy given that this is an edited TV show and there’s only so much footage that can be crammed in.

What we’re hoping for in the cast is a nice combination of serious gamers and then also people who are a little more old-school in terms of philosophy. We recognize that we may be in the minority on this, but we don’t always love Survivor when everyone is self-aware and super-strategic. The best seasons to us are the ones were there are great characters, good gameplay, and also some echoes of the early seasons thrown in. It’s a hard combination to achieve in 2018 but still, it’s something worth anticipating.
