Chicago Med – Chicago PD – Chicago Fire crossover coming early

Chicago Fire

Clearly, One Chicago is not making you wait long AT ALL in order for you to see the first big crossover of the season.

In a new post on Twitter (see below), Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas confirmed that the upcoming second episode of all three shows is going to be an epic crossover, with Fire leading into Chicago Med leading then into Chicago PD. For this one particular night, Fire and Med are going to be swapping out timeslots. That’s totally fine with us, mostly because it feels pretty clear that this was done for the sake of the story and making sure that the best one is told.

Also, this just makes the most sense from a narrative standpoint given that fires need to be handled before the doctors of Chicago Med can assess the aftermath — and Intelligence can figure out who was responsible or why. Of course, we’re just assuming that this is the narrative arc of the crossover, but it’s possible that there could be a few more twists and turns along the way. One Chicago does figure out a way sometimes to twist things in a way that you don’t see coming.

Given that the three One Chicago shows are all airing on the same night throughout the entire season, we’ve got a good feeling that we are going to get a chance to see more crossovers beyond this. One of the reasons why there weren’t too many crossovers last year was because the shows were on different night, schedules were weird, and it was just hard to get all the actors together. Things are certainly easier this time around.
