How Supernatural season 14 is folding in Wayward Sisters for multiple episodes

We know that both the Supernatural producers and fans alike were hoping to get a chance to see Wayward Sisters happen. Unfortunately, that has turned out to not be the case. The spin-off series was not ordered at the network and because of that, it was really back to the drawing board to figure out how to integrate some of these characters again. That’s not an easy thing to do since, for starters, you had to figure out a way in which to get the cast back together — they’re not contracted the same way that they would have been were the spin-off given the green line. Beyond that, you also have to find the right reason story-wise to bring them in.

Luckily, for fans of the spin-off pilot, it does feel like the writers have figured out a way to fold them into the main story, while addressing at least some of the loose ends from the spin-off pilot at the same exact time. That is something that executive producer Andrew Dabb discusses more in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“All of the characters are going to make their return one way or the other … We found a way to fold [them] organically into the plot line, and some of the hanging chads from the pilot last year ended up dovetailing nicely with some of the stuff Michael’s looking to do, and some of the stuff that’s going on in our world just generally. It all folds together pretty well, but they’ll definitely be in multiple episodes this season.”

While it is going to be more or less impossible for Supernatural to bring in every single thing that they were planning for Wayward Sisters into this particular series, we do feel at least reasonably confident that they’re going to do just about everything that they can to create a good story and have it work.
