SEAL Team season 2: Judd Lormand officially promoted to regular
This news was first confirmed by Deadline, and what it basically ensures is that Lormand (who plays Lieutenant Commander Eric Blackburn) won’t be going anywhere in the near future. Given that the actor appeared throughout the entirety of season 1, it feels fair to say that many people probably thought that he was a series regular already.
In a new statement per the aforementioned website, executive producer John Glenn had the following to say:
“What I love about Judd as an actor is his naturalness, his ease of performance and his ability to disappear into the role … Judd perfectly captures Blackburn as a compassionate advocate and vital leader for Bravo Team. His skill brings Blackburn into such three-dimensional life that we can’t imagine the show without him.”
A big part of what makes SEAL Team interesting now moving into season 2 is that it’s going to pick with the aftermath of the epic overseas mission. We just saw Jason and other members of the team in a significant amount of danger; now, they have to find a way to try and move forward with their lives at home. We do think that this is a show that benefits significantly from the rotating schedule, where we get to see the team both on missions and then also trying to figure out a way in which to actually function as human beings outside of it. This is a delicate balancing act, but that’s precisely what does make this particular story interesting as we move forward into the future.
SEAL Team season 2 premieres this October on CBS, and with Lormand’s promotion it feels fair to assume that we’ll be invested in his story more than ever.
