Downton Abbey movie production will be starting in near future

The Downton Abbey movie has been officially greenlit now and while you be waiting for some time still in order to see it, it does look like filming is going to be underway soon for many of the show’s cast.

In a new interview on Zoe Ball on Sunday (via Digital Spy), actress Phyllis Logan confirmed that it would not be too long before she and everyone else got back together in order to begin work anew on the project. Yet, at the same time she also said humorously that it’s been so long since they’ve seen a script for the movie version of the show that they don’t even remember all that much of the plot:

“We’ve sort of forgotten … We got shown one night about a hundred years ago. But yes there’s a script. We’re going into production any minute now.”

The majority of the cast of the original series is currently planning to return for the new version, which we’re still somewhat polarized about in opinion. While we do think that a new version of Downton Abbey could be very successful in theory, the biggest problem we foresee is convincing viewers used to getting the show for free to have to go out and pay in order to see it. We’re also a fan of a product staying in one medium through the entirety of the series’ run.

Yet, at the same time we’re eager and excited to see these beloved characters again, and that is enough for us to want to see them back no matter where they end up.
