Do you want to know what lies ahead on The Affair season 4 episode 10? Let’s just say that it is, in part, about saying goodbye.

At the end of tonight’s new episode, we saw how Alison was killed by Ben, and we are still very much concerned that her death may go without justice. Cole already tried to get answers out of both him and the police, and for now it may be a bridge too far for him to find new evidence. We’re hoping for peace and resolution, but we also recognize that this doesn’t always happen.

During the finale next week, we do know that the characters on the series are going to have a chance to say goodbye to the character. Cole’s going to have to address some of his true feelings (suffice it to say, that could cause some problems for his relationship with Luisa) while everyone has to come to terms with what the future holds. This episode also needs to wrap up some of the other stories this season, including Noah and Anton’s visit to Princeton (which was certainly almost derailed) and also everything going on with Helen. (Remember Helen? It feels like it’s been forever since we’ve actually seen her on the series.)

We don’t expect too much of a cliffhanger to be coming after tomorrow’s episode — there is a season 5 on the other side of it, but Showtime probably doesn’t need to do a lot to set them up. If the writing continues to be as strong as it was for much of season 4, the viewership will certainly be there.
