Charmed reboot: Alyssa Milano not expecting to make cameo

Charmed

While original Charmed star Alyssa Milano doesn’t wish anything bad on the cast and crew of the new CW reboot, it doesn’t seem as though she is looking to make a cameo in the near future, either.

Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment TonightMilano made it clear that the “ship has sailed” when it comes to her potentially appearing on the series down the line. She also had the following to say about the concept and executive of the project over the past several months:

“I wish that they would have come to [my co-stars and I] and we would have been involved since the beginning … But having said that, I do hope that it reaches the newer generation and impacts that generation the way ours was able to do for its generation.”

We do feel in a lot of ways for the stars of the new Charmed, mostly in that the CW set them up in some ways to receive early flack due to a poorly-executed promotional campaign, including a logline that felt as though it was putting the original show now in order to build the new one up. Yet, we think Milano’s message is the most important one here — the original Charmed did inspire a number of young people and give them something to build a community around. If the new version manages to do that without tarnishing the legacy of the original, there’s not a whole lot to hate here. We do hope that most people give the new series a chance, but the biggest thing the modern cast and crew have to be aware of is that there are going to be a legion of people from the get-go who are interested in hating it just for the sake of doing so. If they can make it through that first wave of criticism, we do think that they can emerge on the other side in one piece. It’s going to be a challenge, but they should be able to pull it off.

If you haven’t seen the trailer for the new Charmed yet, you can do so below.
