Station 19 season 2 synopsis promises answers to cliffhanger, captaincy

Station 19

Station 19 season 2 is a little less than a couple months away from premiering! Isn’t that a reason to celebrate? We think so, but the same thing goes for the fact that season 2 is going to set out to resolve some of the biggest cliffhangers from season 1. The series will make it clear who will survive after the enormous cliffhanger at the end of season 1, but beyond just that, signs point towards finally getting some answers regarding who the new captain is at the station. That was a storyline that ran for most of the first season and in some ways, we’re rather shocked that there wasn’t an answer to it.

Check out some new, official details via ABC below — while there are a few fairly-expected details in here, it also is rather nice to learn a little bit more about what’s happening with Andy and Ryan alongside the arrival of a new firefighter in the mix:

Season 2 of “Station 19” will return with answers to all of our burning questions. With a massive skyscraper fire raging, can Andy (Jaina Lee Ortiz) lead her team to safety?  Will her former flame Jack (Grey Damon) and teammate Travis (Jay Hayden) survive after an explosion sends them both into jeopardy? And when the dust finally settles, who will win the race for the captain position at Station 19?

The second season finds our team wrestling with the fallout of the deadly blaze. The life of their former captain, Pruitt (Miguel Sandoval), hangs in the balance after major health complications. No longer a rookie, Ben (Jason George) searches for his place on the team. Maya (Danielle Savre), Vic (Barrett Doss), and Dean (Okieriete Onaodowan) are tested beyond their limits. And if all that wasn’t enough for Andy, her complicated relationship with police officer Ryan (Alberto Frezza) grows even more complex as his path intersects with the station’s.

The crew at Station 19 will welcome a new teammate, a seasoned firefighter (Boris Kodjoe) with a mysterious past. Season 2 will also feature more crossover elements with ABC’s flagship series “Grey’s Anatomy.” Seattle’s brightest doctors will collide with Seattle’s boldest firefighters in unexpected ways as they work side by side to save lives.

Thanks to Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy having a more defined plan for their seasons ahead of time, that does offer the two shows their own unique opportunity to plan ahead and come up with great crossovers. What’s so curious about this to us is that when it comes to Grey’s Anatomy, we really have not witnessed too many opportunities before in order to see the doctors working on a semi-regular basis with another team. While there were some crossovers during the Private Practice era, they certainly did not work then quite like they are now.
