Crime Dynamic Duos: Chicago PD (Burgess / Ruzek) vs. Bosch (Bosch / Jerry)

Welcome to CarterMatt’s Crime Dynamic Duos 2018! This is the third year in which we’re doing this tournament, which is a way to honor some of the best crime-solvers in all of TV. This tournament runs throughout the month of August, and over the course of it we describe what makes certain pairs the perfect crime-fighting duo while also allowing you to share some of your thoughts on the competition! Each article is accompanied with a description and a poll; the winning duo will advance to the next round leading up to the winner being announced on September 1!

What are the rules of the tournament? Basically, all eligible shows have to still be in the midst of their run on TV as of August 1, and at least one character involved needs to be involved in solving crimes in some capacity. They can be a cop, a private investigator, a federal agent, a lawyer or a high-ranking officer. What matters is that they put plenty of bad people away.

Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Voting for Round 1 is open until Friday, August 10 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. Round 2 will begin the following day; the image at the top of the article should explain everything.

In this article, we’re spotlighting Burgess and Ruzek of Chicago PD, a pair who has been through their fair share of trials and tribulations, facing off against another notable duo in Bosch and Jerry from Amazon’s Bosch.

Burgess and Ruzek, Chicago PD (#1 seed) – We know that we’d like to see the two get more screen time together in the upcoming sixth season, and not just because of the fact that they are a fan duo to ‘ship. They’re very effective when paired up together, and we actually think that they are also a really great example of a pair whose relationship has improved, in part, by the time that they are spending together away from the force. They trust each other implicitly and that’s important given how Chicago is one of the most dangerous places a cop can be working.

Bosch and Jerry, Bosch (#5 seed) : These two detectives have been working side by side since the beginning of the series and there’s a reason for that – they are a strong team. They know each other really well (as well as anyone can really know Bosch that is) and consider each other more than just co-workers… they are family. We’ve seen them overcome some very difficult situations including at one point Jerry doing some private investigation into Bosch. This is something that could’ve easily ended their relationship (and it certainly did put a serious strain on them), but they’ve found a way to come out on the other side of it.
