Hawaii Five-0 season 9 spoilers: Eddie the Dog origin story coming

Many people out there likely already know that we are rather big fans of Eddie the Dog on Hawaii Five-0 — and really any dogs on TV in general. We are huge animal lovers – our dog Coco Chanel Vanderwoof is The Boss here at CarterMatt and our rescue cat Harley keeps us all in line.

With that in mind, the following news surrounding season 9 is certainly music to our ears. According to TVLine (via show executive producer Peter M. Lenkov), there will be one episode coming up this season that offers up a heavy dose of backstory on Steve’s four-legged friend beyond what we first got to see last year. Eddie has shown himself to be a rather effective member of the team for some cases — it’s always good to have a dog around to track criminals! Beyond just that, he’s a loyal friend for Steve, Junior, and the rest of the show family and honestly, we’ll be happy with however many appearances he makes coming up this season.

CBS has some rather ambitious plans for Hawaii Five-0 season 9 in general, given that there is going to be a tribute to a classic episode coming up in the premiere. Meanwhile, we are also going to have a chance to see an epic 200th episode that is hopefully going to serve as an awesome celebration to the entire run of the show to date. There aren’t too many details about it out there right now, save for the fact that Steve and Danny’s restaurant is going to be a key part of it.

Hopefully, Eddie remains a welcome part of the series moving beyond just season 9 — he is one of the many little changes that has happened over the course of the entire series to help to keep things fresh.
