Last Man Standing season 7: Molly McCook replacing Molly Ephraim

Last Man Standing

Molly McCook is the latest cast member on Last Man Standing season 7, and she is replacing another Molly in Molly Ephraim.

According to a new report from Variety, McCook (whose TV credits include The Ranch, Agents of SHIELD, and the upcoming Good Trouble) is going to be playing the part of Mandy Baxter for the upcoming Fox sitcom. Ephraim held the role for the first six seasons, but declined not to return due to her other commitments. In the time in which the show had been off of the air, she had landed a number of other series and those seem to be her focus now.

With McCook, the Fox series is getting someone familiar with the genre and someone seemingly excited to be there. Of course, what’s interesting about the casting is that McCook has been blonde in many of her past roles; we wonder whether or not Last Man Standing writes that into the script or they have her dye her hair to look a little bit closer to the original Mandy Baxter. In the end, we suppose that it doesn’t matter all that much — they’ll find a way to write her into the series with a little bit of wit. This is hardly the first case of a recasting that we’ve heard of in a sitcom.

Meanwhile, the series has also officially recast Flynn Morrison with Jet Jurgensmeyer, who is going to be playing the older version of Boyd on the series. The plan was to age up the character for the revival and hopefully Jet (who has appeared on black-ish) will prove to be the right person for the role.

We anticipate seeing both performers early on in the upcoming September 28 premiere, in addition to many of the episodes beyond that.
