How Timeless movie could leave story open for more in the future
Yet, Timeless can do this and still also leave the door open for something more down the road. This was confirmed in a recent post on Twitter via the show’s writers room, who made it abundantly clear that their goal is to give NBC and the show’s fans a “really satisfying conclusion” to the story that we’ve seen over the past couple of years. Yet, remember this: Tying together all loose ends, even if Timeless does this, doesn’t necessarily close the door on there being more of the show coming up. There is still a chance that the writers could come up with something more down the road if given the opportunity.
The Star Trek reference the writers make here is a very apt one, mostly because that show is a great example of one that has had a tremendously long life that wasn’t clear at the time it first went off the air. Who would’ve ever imagined that the show would become the empire that it is today?
The main reason why Star Trek ended up getting The Next Generation years down the road, in addition to many feature films, is because of how popular the original series became after the fact. To think, that was mostly the product way back when of people actually sitting down and watching it on television — they had no other choice. With Timeless, the episodes are available to anyone who has Hulu and it has a much better chance of being discovered by people after the fact. Granted, there is also more competition than there was for Star Trek decades ago, so really the best thing that fans can do is campaign hard to all of their friends and family to get on board watching the show. If that happens and the ratings for the movie are great, who knows what the future could hold?
