Anne with an E season 3 renewal campaign breaks out on Twitter
Tonight, we’re learning one thing about fans of Netflix’s Anne with an E — they are very much passionate about seeing the show renewed.
The adaptation of Anne of Green Gables has become increasingly popular all of the world, and the reasoning for that isn’t too hard to see. The source material has a timeless feel to it, and we also do think that some of the characters have been translated for this show in a way that adds further depth and intrigue. It feels as though there is plenty more subject matter to cover here, especially since some of these relationships are only going to get more complex along the way.
Basically, we’re just trying to justify why “Renew Anne with an E” is trending on Twitter Saturday night. Fandoms have to know now that social-media traffic is a real key for getting shows revived, especially since we have seen it happen with Lucifer, Sense8, and most recently Timeless. The good news for Anne with an E is that it hasn’t been canceled yet like some of those other shows. Instead, it’s just in a state of relative limbo.
So why hasn’t Netflix done anything just yet? Well, a part of that may have to do with the fact that the series has not actually aired in Canada just yet and the CBC are one of the financiers behind the show. It premieres there next month, and based on its performance there we could start to get some more news about its future at that time. Anne with an E is one of those super-complicated shows that has many cooks in the kitchen — think in terms of a Shadowhunters or a Outcast in that there are a number of different partners involved. The first season actually aired in Canada before coming to Netflix in America, and this season is doing something the other way around.
It’s possible that CBC could renew Anne with an E early, but we’re not holding our breath on that. You could be waiting for a while still.
