Quantico series finale: Priyanka Chopra pays tribute to show, Alex Parrish
In order of tonight’s Quantico series finale airing on ABC, series star Priyanka Chopra is doing what she can in order to pay tribute to not only her character in Alex Parrish, but also ABC and the series for offering up something that is rare in America. For the past three years, the network has shown more diversity with this series than many other networks have with several other shows combined. It has been a wonderful step forward for the South Asian community and hopefully, this will continue to lead the way for some other stories being told in the future.
Also, who knows? Chopra herself could still have a future in American television, given that there will hopefully be some inquiries made over the next year. It would be fun for her to do something in the comedy space now after being in a serious show for the past few years — a sitcom could be interesting, but so would a workplace comedy or something else off-kilter.
Let’s circle back now to what Chopra had to say via Twitter about this final episode, as we do find this important for not just her, but many other performers out there looking for opportunities to succeed:
As the season ends, I am saying goodbye to Alex Parrish. As you’ll see, her story will come full circle…and that is the best feeling as an actor. Bringing Alex to life has challenged me physically and emotionally, but even more significant it has (I hope) cracked the door open for female talent and women of color to play leading ladies. Thank you for opening your homes and hearts to me every week! Thank you to the cast and crew of [the show] for being such an amazing team to work with, for all the memories that I will cherish…memories of laughter, of learning new things, of making friends for life. It was a pleasure working with each and every one of you, and I look forward to crossing paths again!
This is a difficult goodbye for Chopra, and we imagine that the same has to be said for the entirety of the cast. For showrunner Michael Seitzman, this is the second one of his shows to end over the past month. In July, his CBS series Code Black ended after three seasons. Like Chopra, we have a feeling he is going to be more than fine.
