Doctor Who season 11 filming wraps … but still no premiere date

Doctor Who season 11

Doctor Who season 11 filming is now officially over … but unfortunately, we’re going to be waiting still for some sort of premiere date.

In a new post on Twitter, the BBC confirmed that production on their hyper-ambitious new batch of episodes has officially wrapped up, but unfortunately, the network has not been too keen to give out to many more details … with a date being among them. This should not be a shock, given that the BBC are notoriously stingy when it comes to handing out start dates for many of their shows.

If we were to guess, though, we would say that October would be an ideal time for Doctor Who to come back … provided, of course, that the goal here is that you get an opportunity to see all of the episodes out there in time for there to be a brief break, and then the Christmas Special. If you premiere any later than that, then there is really no break at all, or there’s the other challenge of having a Christmas Special right in the middle of everything.

If you’ve been somewhat out of the loop as of late when it comes to Doctor Who, there are a few different things that you should be aware of. For starters, Jodie Whittaker is starring as the Thirteenth Doctor alongside three potential companions played by Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, and Mandip Gill. These four characters will traverse time and space together, making this adventure a little bit more like an ensemble than we have seen as of late. There is also going to be one episode set far away from the UK, judging from the fact that it was filmed in South Africa in a very-brief period of time.

A great deal of passion went into making Doctor Who season 11 — let us hope that it matches up perfectly with the immense hype. After seeing new showrunner Chris Chibnall’s previously work in Broadchurch, we personally are feeling quite excited for what lies ahead.
