The Flash season 5 may finally be casting Caitlin Snow’s father
Now, that feels as though it is actually going to happen! Thanks to a new casting notice via That Hashtag Show, the CW series is looking to bring on an actor to play Dr. Thomas Snow moving forward on the series. Here is how the producers are currently describing him:
“Described as a Caucasian male in his 50’s, Dr. Snow is an extremely intelligent geneticist who has been MIA for a few decades. As he returns to Central City, Dr. Snow will do his best to make up for lost time with his daughter Caitlin and his wife Carla. But what they don’t know about Thomas is that he is keeping a big and mysterious secret.”
So what is this big secret that Thomas is hiding? Most signs point towards it tracing back to some of what we learned last season about Caitlin — her powers may have been latent within her long before the particle accelerator. Is her father responsible for this? That seems to be a reasonable assumption, and it could also explain why he has been away for so long. It is certainly possible that he felt a tremendous amount of guilt over what he knew would eventually happen to Caitlin and this caused him to take off and go into hiding. This is just us speculating, but it’s hard to imagine this man having nothing to do with her powers given this description and his long disappearance.
Also, it’s nice to see that The Flash is going in another interesting direction with Caitlin that does not involve her randomly being paired off with whoever the new character is that entered the show this season. We already saw that in seasons 2 and 3 with “Jay Garrick” and then also Julian Albert, at least to a certain extent. (It was certainly clear that Julian cared about her more than the other way around — also, we miss having Tom Felton on this show.)
