Supergirl season 4: Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Brent Spiner to recur

Supergirl season 3 episode 13

Just in case you needed another reason to be excited about Supergirl season 4, know this: Brent Spiner of Star Trek: The Next Generation is poised to recur over the course of the upcoming episodes.

As for the role he is playing, THR claims that he is taking on the particularly important part of Vice President of the United States. In the past on the series, we have seen former Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter appear as President Marsdin. Now, apparently the show is expanding outward and giving us a chance to learn a little more about some other people within the administration.

Now, what we do wonder is this: Is Spiner meant to represent a good politician or a wolf in sheep’s clothing? We understand the value in presenting both through the lens of the series. In making this character someone who is likable and wants to see the good in aliens, the producers could be telling a story based a little bit more on ideals. However, in choosing to make this character power-hungry or hateful, the producers could be looking to tell something a little more foreboding, where characters have to fight their own government tooth and nail in order to find their way to the other side and get a little more in the way of peace and understanding.

Spiner is the sort of guest casting that Supergirl should covet, given that it attracts new viewers while also still retaining some of the core base that it already has. Spiner has been all over the place beyond appearing in the aforementioned science-fiction classic, including full seasons of Cinemax’s Outcast and also parts on Warehouse 13 and Ray Donovan. He brings a lot of clout to the series in the midst of some of the other new faces that it has, including the villain Agent Liberty, who seems to be intent on eradicating aliens from National City for good. You will also be meeting the potential antihero Manchester Black in a recurring capacity.

What do you think about the idea of Brent Spiner joining Supergirl for a notable season 4 stint? Let us know in the attached comments!
